Thank you to everyone who tuned in for the Fashion PR Con Spreecast yesterday! Below is a recap of last nights discussion.
What Kind of Experience is Needed to Attend Fashion PR Con
-Attendees vary from college students to professionals who are all at different places in their careers. Ideally, one or two PR courses under your belt will help, and it benefits those with a strong interest in fashion PR. Although classes are advanced, they are built to where beginners are comfortable. However, not much time is spent on the fundamentals, it mainly focuses on building a PR campaign.
What to Bring
-A digital workbook will be provided for you, so having an ipad/tablet or laptop with the ability to view documents is necessary (laptop is preferred). You may also want to bring a phone charger, as there is a lot of photgraphing and instagramming that takes place.
-You should also consider bringing your resume or business card.
-Be dressed fashionable and professional with comfort in mind! Bring flats, on Sunday you will be walking up eight flights of stairs.
-You will get a schedule before attending, but classes will start at 9 am both mornings and last between 5 & 5:30.
- Hopstop or Google Maps are the best way to get around the city. Give yourself an extra 30 minutes to get to the conference.
-Everyone will be split into small groups and assigned a made up client. This will be your client for the duration of the workshop. You will build a mini PR campaign for this “client” by the end of the conference. Students will review there projects out loud so each of you can learn from the other groups.
- Set up like a round of speed dating, attendees will get 10 minutes to ask questions and pick the brain of professionals. Some students have gained internships this way.
